Objective To investigate the characteristics of nocturnal blood pressure variation in hypertensive patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS) and explore the corresponding nursing strategies. Methods The nocturnal blood pressure of the hypertensive patients with OSAS was recorded dynamically overnight from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am the next day using noninvasive portable dynamic blood pressure monitoring device, and the characteristics of the blood pressure variation was analyzed. Results Compared with the control group, the hypertensive patients with OSAS exhibited elevated, rather than decreased nocturnal blood pressure, and significant variations in the blood pressure were recorded from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am the next day(P0.01).Conclusions Hypertensive patients with OSAS may not exhibit physiological declination of nocturnal blood pressure, and health education and enhanced awareness of this condition may help in early diagnosis and hence appropriate intervention for OSAS in these patients.
