A New Adaptive Tuning Transmitting Probability MAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks
Yun Liang · Communications technology · 2008
In this paper,AMAC,a new Medium Access Control protocol for wireless sensor network is proposed.AMAC protocol is an extension of S-MAC,which overcomes the shortcoming of S-MAC.S-MAC protocol employs a fixed contention window, and when the number of nodes change, its performance would be reduced. In order to set up duty cycle expediently,a contention window plus p persist backoff algorithm is proposed, when the backoff counter decrease to zero, node transmits data packets according to a best probability p rather than transmits data packets immediately. In order to confirm probability p,the relation between p and active nodes is deduced, and a active nodes estimate algorithm proposed.Simulation results in ns-2 proves the adaptability and energy-efficiency of AMAC protocol.
