Practical proactive secret sharing scheme for asynchronous networks with unreliable links

Yuanbo Guo, Jianfeng Ma · Systems engineering and electronics · 2004

The existing proactive secret sharing (PSS) methods are all based on the synchronous time model and reliable link assumptions, which is impractical in a distributed environment such as Internet. The asynchronous PSS is obtained by introducing a concept of time phase which is defined not only in terms of protocol events, but also in timing of all participants. Based on this concept, the states of asynchronous PSS and their transitions are characterized. Moreover the reliable communication between participants is guaranteed by the development of a reliable message transmit protocol, which is designed by using the mechanisms of message redundant transmission and authenticated acknowledge. The results show that the proposed scheme is correct and perfect, without any loss of communicating and computing performances.
