Dynamic Duty Cycle MAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

An energy-efficient MAC protocol(EMAC protocol) for wireless sensor networks is proposed. The EMAC protocol is a contention-based MAC protocol.EMAC uses periodic working and sleeping to reduce idle listening.EMAC introduces a dynamic duty cycle to reduce the amount of energy wasted.Experimental results show that the EMAC protocol obtains significant energy savings and gains longer sensor node lifetime.
