Iris Location Algorithm Based on Edge Detection

Iris location is an important process and its speed and accuracy determine the performance in an iris recognition system.According to the characteristic of the iris image,an iris location algorithm based on contour detection is presented in this paper.The Sobel operator is used to extract the iris edge,and then an algorithm,which combines scan line searching with line fitting,is applied to determine the iris center and its size roughly,finally,an improved Daugman operator is used to locate the iris edge precisely.This algorithm is faster and more effective than the usual one and its speed and accuracy are improved.
