The physical index on the degradation of archaeological wood

In order to find a scientific way to evaluate the degradation of archaeological wood, 13 kinds of woods, of 8 species, were collected as study objects, and a comparative study between archaeological woods and new ones was conducted, including their indexes of moisture content, shrinkage, basic density, air - dried density and holocel-lulose. The results showed that the basic density and the maximum moisture content of wood can be used as the physical indexes of the degradation of archaeological wood.
