THE FORMATION OF GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SCIENCE

In this paper, after the analysis of the relationship between GeoSpatial Information Science(GSIS) and global change monitoring continuous development of society, the background of GSIS generation and a definition of GSIS are presented. Then, its content and development is summarized. The main research tasks in GSIS are introduced. Finally, the future of GSIS is prospected.
