Multi-rate hybrid codec and its performance evaluation for sequence image compression

In this paper, we propose a new multi-rate bybrid codec algorithm that can be called MRHC. It makes use of the 3D wavelet image characteristics of energy distribution to form the embedded code stream and combines the source and channel coding together. The error-correcting codes can be fulfilled at same time while doing image compression by using a puncture to a convolutional code. The method optimizes the rare allocation and peatly enhances the sequence wavelet image resilience to channel erros.
