SER Performance Analysis of Decode-and-Forward Cooperative Communications with Channel Estimation Errors

Xujun Chen · Communications technology · 2010

Channel estimation error is a principal factor for performance degradation of wireless networks. In this paper,SER(Symbol Error Ratio) performance of decode-and-forward cooperative communications with channel estimation error over Rayleigh channels is ananlyzed. The exact SER expressions and the upper bound SER expressions for QAM signal are derived.Performance of DF cooperative communications for different channel variance is discussed.Simulations show that, with channel estimation error, the SER performance could not be improved along with the increase of signal-to-noise ratio. At the same time, the SER performance depends more on the channel link between the relay and the destination than between the source and the relay.
