Connected Region Extracting Algorithm for Binary Image Based on Chains

Research was done on binary image connected region labeling algorithm.The traditional algorithm must repeatedly scan the image,resulting in lower efficiency of the algorithm.This paper proposes a connected region extracting algorithm based on chains.Each segment corresponds to one chain's node,traverses through the chain and finds the target,extracting connected region from the image,to facilitate the application.This algorithm is also proposed to further optimize the method,reducing the number of scans.Experiment shows that it keeps high efficiency and fine robustness to any shapes of connection region,and can be effectively used for online detection in industrial.
