The Flexible Use of the Cutter Tables in Periodical Shelving

Many periodicals shelving protocols are currently used by different libraries,but shelving based on the classification and based on the journal name alphabet are still the two most commonly used methods.Inner Mongolia University library has recently changed the codes for all Chinese periodicals by making the flexible use of the Cutter Tables inspired by the similar work done in Beijing University library.This article mainly focuses on introducing various protocols we have used during the code-change project,including periodicals indexing,using of the journal name Cutter numbers,special cases handling,and the special treatment for university journals.
