A Big-Data Approach to the Study of Language Ecology

In the context of the emerging big-data era,and grounded in the consideration of the biological and sociological properties of human languages,this paper reviews the deteriorating global situation of linguistic diversity, examines the opportunities and challenges brought forth by the big-data paradigm,and discusses the mindset of researchers on language ecology as well as their research methodology and professional missions against the backdrop of the big-data era.
