A Methodology of Performance Measurement and Evaluation for Internet Multi-homing

Multi-homing has widely been employed by stub networks to enhance the reliability of their network connectivity and improve performance.On the premise of considering the characteristics of network access,we adopt traffic aggregation method to extract IPv4 address candidates of active measurement,and then present a methodology of network performance for large-scale measurements.Based on the metrics of performance and connectivity that we define,we analyze the characteristics of performance per prefix and per AS along different ISP access links.The measurement results are helpful for selecting alternative ISPs and configuring routing policy.
