Blind equalization algorithm for high-order QAM signals

A modified weighted multi-modulus blind equalization algorithm(MWMMA) and a new hybrid multi-modulus algorithm(HMMA) for high-order QAM signals were proposed. The MWMMA uses a new weight factor definition method to reduce the residual error and improve the adaptive capacity to different modulation order.Furthermore, the variable step size method based on kurtosis was used to increase the convergence rate. The HMMA combined MWMMA with the decision directed algorithm properly to construct a new hybrid blind equalization cost function, which can markedly increase the convergence rate with a lower residual error.Theoretic analyses and simulation results prove that both of the methods are not sensitive to the shape of different constellations and make better on residual error and con-vergence rate than other algorithms.
