Rho kinase inhibitors:a research progress

Rho kinase which is the downstream substrate plays a key role in regulating various cellular functions,such as vascular smooth muscle cell contraction,actin cytoskeleton recombination,cell adhesion and motility,cytokinesis,tumor cell migration and invasion,and gene expressions.Rho kinase is involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases,such as cardiocerebrovascular diseases,bronchial asthma,glaucoma,erectile dysfunction and tumor.Currently,Rho kinase inhibitors are regarded as a hot topic in drug research and can be used as a novel choice for treating cardiovascular diseases and other diseases.In this paper,the advances in the research on Rho kinase inhibitors are reviewed.
