A Method of Hand Image Segmentation from Complex Backgrounds

A method of hand image segmentation from complex backgrounds is presented.First,a skin model based on YUV color space is established,then by sampling consistently with a USB camera,a background statistical model is constructed.After that the two models are combined to segment the hand image,the final segmented hand is obtained by using the morphology filter, empty holes filling algorithm and median filter.The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is very suitable for the hand gesture segmentation and recognition from complex backgrounds,since its algorithm is easy and effective.
