Revision on Construction Coercion:Lexical Coercion and Inertia Coercion

On reflecting the shortcoming of Lexical Projection Principle,Construction Grammar(CxG) has proposed Construction Coercion,thus greatly enhancing the explanatory power of CxG.But some scholars have overstated construction coercion,with the neglect of lexicon's contribution to the clausal meaning,leading the discussion from one extreme to another.This paper thinks that it is not acceptable either,thus proposing a remedying idea of Lexical Coercion,in order to make the interaction between verb and construction become a real one.In addition,construction coercion is very complicated with many forms which awaits our further consideration,based on which the paper has proposed Inertia Coercion which can be used to explain zeugma.
