The transient processes of different types signal-phase-to-earth fault in resonant grounded system are different, thus it is very difficult to find a generally applicable method. By analyzing the transient characteristic of resonant grounded system in three special fault conditions, the single-phase-to-earth fault is divided into strong grounded fault,small-angle grounded fault and weak grounded fault. Define spectrum energy scaling factor P,transient factor T and Hilbert time-frequency entropy S as the fault characteristics, and use support vector machine to classify fault category. Build up the proper line detection criterions for different fault categories to achieve targeted grounding line detection. Simulation results show that the proposed approach for fault line detection could adapt to various fault conditions and influence factors and has the characteristics of high margin and veracity.
