A Preliminary Probe into Temporal GIS and Its Data Model

Temporal GIS is a new part in GIS research field.Traditional GIS records instant data of the developing world and it is called the static GIS.If time equal to space is introduced to traditional GIS,in other words,a time dimension or a time variable is added to three dimensional GIS,the temporal GIS(TGIS) is formed.The researches of the space-time relation model is one of the key point of the TGIS now and there are two main methods to acquire the TGIS,one is to extend the traditional relation model,and the other is to use the object oriented methods.TGIS data models and techniques research have been developed to some extent,but there are still much insufficiencies.Then some ideas and suggestions about requirements are put forward in order to improve the future TGIS models at the end.
