The bitmap index is a binary encoding method. It can obviously enhance the performance and saves the storage space in some cases. So, the index structure suits OLAP database, and is an important measure to Improve database system performance. Some mainstream database, such as Oracle, Sybase, and Informix, support the bitmap index. The article mainly introduces bitmap index and simple bitmap index, and compiles the simple bitmap index code program using C++ programming language and the container, iterator and algorithm in the C++ STL.
