Ternary(2,10) run-length limited code for multilevel recording channels

Quanhong Shen · Optical Technique · 2006

A new ternary(2,10) run-length limited(RLL) code was introduced. This new code, which can be represented by a 3-state finite state machine(FSM),has a higher density ratio(DR=2.14 bits per minimum-recorded-mark) than another existing 3-ary(2,10) code. The construction, encode and decode method of the new code were discussed. The method to suppress the low-frequency components of the encoded sequence was proposed. The major characteristic parameters of different RLL codes were compared.
