The significance of evaluating gastric symptoms in motion sickness us-ing body surface electrogastrogram(EGG )was described.10 normal young subjects wereseated in a revolving vision inducing device. Illusional self-movements appeared and thensymptoms of motion sickness occurred.Discomfort in stomach developed in 8 subjects. The frequecies of EGG changed from 2.6~3. 5c/min(normal) to 2.4~9. 9c/min(ab-normal).The maximum amplitude increased from 90μV in resting state to 347μV. TheEGG in two asymptomatic subjects did not change, keeping the normal rhythms at about3c/min. Thc results indicate that EGG is an effective objective parameter for the evalua-tion of vision-induced motion sickness.
