This paper proposes a threshold authentication scheme without trusted center’s participation. The certificate is issued by the group members together. The key problem is focused on how to generate the certificate without a trusted center. The threshold method is used to select k partners from n partners. Each of them sends a sub-certificate to the non-authenticated partner. When the partner receives k sub-certificates, it can generate the final certificate by itself. A punishment mechanism is presented and incorporated into the scheme. The security of the proposed scheme is analized. The result indicates that the scheme is a robust and secure.
