The Influence of Pre-stack Density Inversion Error on Gas Saturation Estimate
Cnooc Energy · Chinese Journal of Engineering Geophysics · 2011
There exists certain error in the density inversion, but how big the error of the density parameter influences gas saturation is seldom discussed in our academic literatures. In one of PanYu districts, when recognizing high gas saturation fluid, the inversion is made through the pre-stack density inversion technique and calculates the average error of the density parameters.According to the linear relationship between the inversion error and gas saturation, the gas saturation error caused by the density inversion error is calculated quantitatively. The results show that 0.05g/cm3 density error can lead to 18% gas saturation error;Inversion error in the inversion process is inevitable.By studying the influence of inversion error estimate on gas saturation,it has the significance of reducing the risk of exploration and development. So the method discussed in this paper provides a reference for using error information effectively.
