Risk Criteria for Assessment of Dam Hydrological Safety
Mei Ya · Hydroelectric Energy · 2002
The basic criteria applied at present for the assessment of hydrological safety of dams under designing and operation are reviewed, which are based on dam hazard classification. The new criteria based on risk analysis are discussed. The society acceptable risk levels for dam safety and the acceptable probability of dam failure are presented respectively. The hazard losses caused by dam failure and the evaluation methods are described.
