Improved Small Diamond Search Algorithm Based on Detection of All-Zero

To decrease the computation and the motion estimation time in a H.264/AVC coding converter,this paper presents a new improved small diamond search algorithm,which is based on the Detection of All-Zero(DAZ).In the matching computation of the search center and its near four points,DAZ is used to increase the searching rate.The method is compared with several other typical motion search methods.Keeping with certain Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR) performance,the improved small diamond search method decreases the searching points and shortens the coding time obviously.The improved small diamond search method fits for the video sequence in a stationary or middle-small motion-intensity background and the application result is good.
