Information Transmission Reliability Assessment of Communication Network in Typical Wide Area Protection

The reliability of communication network is one of the decisive factors influencing the realization of the wide area protection system(WAPS). According to the structural characteristics of backbone and regional communication networks in WAPS and transmission principle of synchronous digital hierarchy(SDH)optical network,the reliability models of SDH self-healing ring-structure and star-structure network are analyzed by taking into account both Markov state-space method and network method. The study case shows that the reliability model could reflect information transmission principle and provide reference for the reliability assessment of WAPS communication network.
