HYBRID SAMPLING CODING FOR MULTIPLE-DESCRIPTION IMAGES

This paper describes the relationship between DCT high frequency coefficients of images and sampling schemes of multiple description coding(MDC).Hybrid sampling coding with multiple-description is proposed which chooses its local sampling scheme according to DCT high frequency coefficient.Subjective and objective evaluation shows that in comparison with other sampling scheme in MDC,this method achieves higher description-image quality at similar compression rates.
