A Thesaurus-based Methodology to Specify the Semantic Meaning of Ontology

An ontology is an explicit specification of a conceptualization on semantic and knowledge.As an ef- fective tool,it is widely used to build ontology based of thesauruses in the field of digital libraries.Referring to (the classification and arrangement of) Chinese Classified Thesaurus,the paper discusses the semantic relation- ship of thesauruses.By analyzing the disadvantages of thesauruses,it puts forward a thesaurus-based method- ology to specify the semantic meanings of ontology and process synonyms,polysemantic words and idioms,etc.
