Hierarchical Architecture Based Node ID Allocation Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks

Geng Hui · IEEE Software · 2012

Recently, with the rapid development of computing technology, communication technology and the sensing technology, the wireless sensor network(WSN) also take a rapid development.WSN is different from the traditional network, which is the private network and faces the specific application. And the resource on the node is limited,so the IP address manner is not suitable for the WSN of global unique identifier. This paper proposes the hierarchical globally unique identifier allocation for solving the problem of WSN node identifier allocation. In this proposal, there are one center ID allocation server and several local ID allocation points, they finish the task of WSN node ID allocation. This proposal reduces the cost of WSN maintenance, enhances the scalability of network and improves the availability of wSN.
