Traditional Web Services technology lacks machine-understandable semantics, which limits the automation of Web Services. Semantic Web Services, thus emerge as the times require. Therein the modeling frameworks for Semantic Web Services have been a focus of the current research. Based on the general infrastructure of Semantic Web Services, this paper analyzes the characteristics of three mainstream modeling frameworks: OWL-S, IRS-II and WSMF, and draws comparisons amonge these frameworks from the perspectives of usage activities, architecture and service ontology. Finally, the development trends of the modeling frameworks are prospected briefly.
