Study on Semantic Mapping Approach of RDBs Based on OWL Ontology

Semantic conflict commonly exists in different RDBs in network environment.It needs to implement semantic mapping to facilitate interoperability.Taking into consideration of the deficiency of current semantic mapping methods about RDBs,an approach based on OWL ontology is presented.First,mapping rules from RDB to OWL ontology are defined.Next,detection algorithm for semantic conflict is described.Finally,corresponding solution methods are given related to some well-known semantic conflicts.The capability for interoperability between RDBs is enhanced after transformation to OWL ontology which achieves information sharing and exchange on the semantic level and the issue for semantic mapping can be solved.
