Review and prospect of dam safety monitoring

The China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research(IWHR) is a pioneer and active promoter of dam safety monitoring in China.This article reviews the development of dam safety monitoring in China and the creative work conducted by the Department of Structures and Materials.The achievements of the Department in dam safety monitoring research are introduced,mainly including dam safety monitoring data analysis,safety evaluation,dam safety monitoring data analysis software and decision making support system development.New techniques,theories and methods of dam safety monitoring research,are briefly envisaged.
