An Adaptive Duty Cycle MAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Network

Hao Wang · Jisuanji gongcheng · 2013

This paper researches a new energy-efficient MAC protocol which is based on asynchronous duty cycling.PredictiveWakeup MAC(PW-MAC) minimizes sensor node energy consumption by enabling senders to predict receiver’s wakeup times.However,PW-MAC protocol performs poorly in the dramatically changing traffic Wireless Sensor Network(WSN).Based on this problem, the paper proposes a Adaptive Duty Cycle MAC(ADC MAC) protocol that dynamically adjusts the node’s duty cycle based on the changing traffic.Simulation results show that ADC MAC reduces the packet transmission delay by 30% and increases the packet successful delivery ratio by 35% compared with PW-MAC.
