Objective To understand the effects of different anticoagulants on platelet counting by blood analyzer to choose the appropriate anticoagulant and adopt the correct operating procedure. Methods 100 whole blood samples were cellected with three different anticoagulants,heparin,EDTA-K2 and sodium citrate,to prevent clotting. The samples were counted platelets at the time of 0,15 min after sampling, respectively. The results were analysed by matched-pair t test. Results The results of platelet counting at 15 min after sampling were higher than that of the time of 0 min (P0.001).Moreover,the influence was the smallest in platelet counting when the EDTA-K2 was used. Conclusion Applying EDTA-K2 and counting platelets after specimens being laid 15 min at room temperature is the most suitable for machine picking the blood donors to screen experiments.
