Application of high performance computing technology in meteorological department

Aiming at the strong demand for supercomputing power in meteorological field,the technology overview and development trends of high performance computing are introduced.From the perspectives of abroad and domestic,the application status and characteristics of high performance computing are analyzed in meteorological department.It is pointed out that high performance computer system is one of the essential components of China′s meteorological information system.Special attention is paid to the outlook of high performance computing in China′s meteorological department.It is put forward that high performance computing technology and weather prediction application will be even more increasingly integrated,and expect innovative development in the future.
