Switch architecture providing QoS guarantees

Ethernet-oriented Physical Frame Timeslot Switching(EPFTS) is the key technique in SUPANET(Single physical-layer User-data transfer Platform Architecture Network) which is a new network architecture proposed by Sichuan Network Communication Key Laboratory.In this paper a switch architecture is proposed for EPFTS which can provide QoS guarantee in physical layer.The proposed switch architecture is based on high speed bus and separate output queue per input(called a Bus-based and Per Input-Output Queue,BPIOQ).The queuing policy of logical queues is also proposed for BPIOQ.The emulation result shows that the proposed switch architecture with weighted fair queuing algorithm can provide QoS guarantee.
