Object-Event-Process-Based Spatiotemporal Data Model and Its Application into Sea-Ice Dynamics
Xinbao Chen · Geography and Geo-Information Science · 2013
Based on the characteristics of the ontology, this paper discussed the construction of a modeling approach for dynamic geospatial domains based on the concepts of geo-objects,geo-events and geo-processes,which is called OEP(Object-Event-Process)-based spatiotemporal data model. The OEP-based model can effectively describe and represent the complex dynamic geographical phenomena. This model can also enhance the exploration and characterization of geographical phenomena associated with the occurrence and development of internal evolution.More importantly, given the different emphases on the geo-objects,geo-event and geo-processes,the model can integrate or be split into other spatiotemporal data models,so that it can be assumed as a unified spatiotemporal data model. Finally, this model can be applied to model the sea-ice dynamics, and validate itself feasibility and effectiveness.
