Influence of liquid oscillation on the gas-liquid equilibrium pressure

The gas-liquid equilibrium pressures of ethanol, isopropanol and water were studied in order to investigate their deviations from saturation pressures.By means of an oscillator, liquid was forced to oscillate with a certain frequency. The pressure above the liquid level increased and stopped rising within about 3 minutes. The results showed that the pressure of the gas was higher than its saturation pressure. The deviation increased with increasing frequency or increasing temperature. At a temperature of 35℃ and an oscillation frequency of 210 min-1,the maximum deviation of the pressure of ethanol was 14.5%.
