Macrostructure and machine translation

Cheng Ping-li · Journal of Hubei Normal University · 2004

Machine translation at present is taken up from microstructure, which has many shortcomings inevitably and thus hinders the development of machine translation. We can see this clearly from the example of translation. This paper proposes that the study of machine translation should be taken up from the perspective of macrostructure, i.e. from the layer of text, combining linguistics, psychology, and artificial intelligence.
