OBJECTIVE: To research how to correct the partial deformation of images during delivery radiotherapy.METHODS: A new deformable registration technique based on elastic model was applied for describing partial deformation. The registration criterian was based on the square sum of intensity differences between two images and the parameter was point displacement. Before deformable registration, the initial rigid registration was performed.RESULTS:By using this model two images were compared for deformable registration to validity of this method was ralidated.Through the result map of registration and the displacement vector map of extracting the sidepoints, the results shows that this technique exactly and quickly monitored and quantified the shape variation of deformable region, and the accuary of(1-SSDn/SSD0) achieved(92.5±0.4)%.CONCLUTION: This technique affords a feasible method for correcting the partial deformation caused by the shape variation of the organs or tumors during the delivery radiotherapy.
