Automatic monomodality medical image registration algorithm

An automatic algorithm for monomodality medical image registration is presented. To register two three-dimension(3D) medical images, the algorithm makes the intensity histogram of the images on the basis of pixel intensity and then iteratively transforms the images rigidly to minimize the intensity differences between the images and determines the one to one correspondence between the pixels. Since the algorithm relies on pixel intensity of medical image information, rather than on external landmarks set by the researcher, it realizes image registration automatically.
