Self-similarity: A Key to the Narrative Maze of Golden Notebook

Golden Notebook is one of the masterpieces of British writer Doris Lessing. The novel is well-known for its complex structure and innovation of form. The paper intends to apply the idea of self-similarity from fractal theory to the analysis of Golden Notebook. By comparing the self-similarity of the whole and the parts from the angles of overall forms,fragmentation and the coherence of the theme,the author explores the macroscopic view of narrative structure of the novel.
