Performance Comparison of Two Variable Rate Speech Coding for CDMA

This paper starting with the principle concepts of speech coding,separately introduces EVRC and SMV,which are two kinds of standard of variable rate speech coding for CDMA.And performance analysis comparison is described on the basis of this.Finally,the result is presented that EVRC and SMV mode 0 deliver similar rate,but voice quality of SMV mode 0 has the superior voice quality;another superiority of SMV is flexibility,code rate and mode are variable,thus allowing different voice quality and system capacity tradeoffs.
