Iris Location Method Based on Circular Arcs Approximation

Yongjun Li · Journal of Engineering Graphics · 2008

It is one of the key problem in iris recognition that how to improve the speed and precision of iris location.Considering that the circular edges in iris binary edges images might be partly damaged,in order to fasten the speed of iris location and make the iris location algorithm more precise, the method of arc fitting using segmented edges is proposed to detect pupil circles. The first step is the circular arcs approximation, the second step is the dynamic clustering of iris circular arcs.Experiments show that the algorithm is more faster and more precise than John Daugman’s algorithm and Hough’s transform algorithm on the same condition.
