Signature verification method based on position and pressure signals

Chunguang Hu · Journal of Optoelectronics·laser · 2009

A prototype electrical pen for multi-parameter online signature verification based on writing pressure measurement is designed and assembled to meet the demand of signature verification in biometrics. An optical two-dimensional angle sensor to detect the tilt angle of the ink rod is adopted for X and Y directional writing forces measurement and a conventional PZT force sensor is adopted for the Z-directional writing force detection along the pen axis.In order to make the electrical pen more compact and portable, sampling signals are sent to PC via wireless transmission. The feasibility experiments on Chinese characters and letters’ strokes are tested and reported. The results indicate the feasibility of three-dimensional forces detection and provide a basis for signature verification.
