Snake approach for motion tracking of heart vessels in angiographic sequence

A novel method tracking two-dimensional motion of heart vessels from angiographic sequences based on Snake was presented in this paper. The skeleton position in previous frame was used as initial guess of its position in the current frame, and dynamic information between consecutive time instants could be obtained during Snake deforming from its initial position to current position. Dynamic programming and greedy algorithm were adopted respectively in the calculation of optimal Snake, and their characteristics in terms of the number of iterations, computation cost and convergence were discussed. The effectiveness of this method has been demonstrated on clinical single-plane coronary artery angiograms and results were encouraging. [
