An Abstract Platform for Distributed Router

This paper proposes an abstract platform for distributed router.The platform called LAP provides a uniform and virtual environment forrouter applications by defining some virtual devices of virtual network interface,virtual forwarding engine,and virtual internal connection.Router’sapplications can be migrated smoothly if working on this platform,so that extensibility can be supported well under distributed environment.At thesame time,this abstract platform supports router cluster or grid if enhanced.
