Research on IP Traceback Technology

All kinds of anonymous network attacks have given serious threats to Internet.The ability of IP traceback to attack sources is very primitive and some sophisticated attacks can be almost impossible to be traced to their true source using current technology.This paper indicates the difficulty of IP traceback by examining the current state of the Internet environment.Then the advantages and disadvantages of some currently leading IP traceback technology are analyzed and explored in depth.The future work from practical perspective is discussed.Finally,some technical considerations about IP traceback are given for next-generation Internet protocols.
