Linguistic Analysis on English News Headlines on Guangzhou Asian Games

Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games attracts world-wide concern.The article first discusses the rhetorical features and syntactic characteristics of the headlines of English news on Asian Games from China Daily and Xinhuanet.By analyzing some typical examples,the author proposes the possible improvements to compose better headlines of English news in attempt to promote better understanding of China for the English-speaking readers.
